Jumanji- The "Musical"
Lil Sizzle is a week- long intensive study of a subject area of interest for students in grades 3-5. During this week, all regular scheduled classes are suspended so that students can work in a smaller group setting devoting their time exclusively to the topic they selected. Twelve students chose to work with me on a Musical Theater Project. Many were surprised that I was leading the group because it wasn't math related. Math Teachers can be artsy too! Using the beloved storybook, Jumanji, as our source material, students wrote scripts, picked parts, developed scenes, composed a small musical introduction and ending, and made props for their performance. Lucky for us, teaching artist, Joanna Carpenter guided us through this process. We learned a lot and had fun doing it.
